BEFORE I BEGIN:
It’s been awhile since I’ve left a blog (excluding Ashley’s introductory blog post).
I use “it’s been crazy” and “I’ve been really busy” as an excuse a lot, and while it may be true and seem very true to me, it’s no excuse to let things fall to the wayside. I need to be more diligent about setting up time for things like my blog, my new coaching stuff, my personal development, etc.
I’m one of those people that drag my feet and complain that they don’t want to do something or go somewhere, but once i’m there or doing it, i’m fine! I remember doing that with lacrosse practice and horseback riding in high school. After school, I never wanted to go and would rather just go home and take a nap or watch TV. But then I’d get to practice or be on the horse, and I’d have so much fun. Anyone else like this? Like, with everything. I was like this when it came to going out and drinking in college. I’m like this with my workouts now, even. And i’m like this when it comes to blogging. I just didn’t feel like pulling my laptop out or my phone and typing, it felt like a chore. Well, now that i’m halfway through, I am so happy I did.
NOW THAT YOU KNOW WHY I’M SO LAZY AND ABSENT ALL THE TIME…
We’re going to MANIA next weekend!!! [insert excited and nervous and happy feelings]
The SCW Fitness Mania Convention is a 3 day long non stop action packed weekend full of exercise classes, lectures and cool new fitness products! At least that’s what I understand.
I need Continuing Education Credits/Units (CEC’s or CEU’s) for my Personal Training Certification and my Group Exercise Certification.
This convention is a great way to earn tons of CEC’s in one weekend, while learning about different styles of teaching, new trends in the industry, and how to make your business boom!
As a group exercise instructor and personal trainer, I can understand how teaching the same things over and over can get stale pretty quickly. It’s good to learn new techniques, new class formats, new equipment, and also just gain perspective from other people around you! You can socialize and meet all kinds of people in the fitness industry.
Now, when I was signing up for this, I didn’t really want to go alone, and I wasn’t sure who else was going. I told Ashley about it, and she said it sounded really cool! I know she’s been wanting to get into health & fitness more, and she’s been doing it at a local gym and taking classes at home or on demand, so I thought this would be a fun way to introduce her to the magnitude of possibilities in the fitness world. Plus, it is a fun weekend getaway for us!
We’re also super nervous and overwhelmed because it’s going to be all day long of group exercise classes with a few lectures and presentations sprinkled in.
I’m pretty sure I’m going to be too tired to move by the end of the weekend. YIKES.
Has anyone ever gone to any of the Mania’s?! Or perhaps another similar Fitness Convention?
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. I googled them and couldn’t get a lot of information, no blog posts about their experience or anything! I guess we’ll just have to go and find out! 🙂
