Refresh: The Results!

I love snow days. I love snow. And I am grateful for the extra day stuck indoors to be able to catch up on a lot of things, including finally writing this post about my refresh results!

First of all, before I get into the details and what I liked and disliked about it, I’ll go ahead and reveal my before and after photos! I honestly didn’t see that much of a difference at first, and was slightly disappointed, until my sister and my mom saw it, and they we’re like, “OMG THAT’S ONLY 3 DAYS?! That’s such a big difference!” Sometimes, you need to take a step back and look at it the way someone else would look at it.

The above photo is the one that I posted on social media, but since I use this blog for the cold, hard truth and more of a personal journal than anything, I decided it would be beneficial to add in my full bikini before and after photos. img_2309img_2311img_2310

I lost 3.5 lbs, 2 inches around my waist and 2% body fat.

However, one of the biggest things I noticed after 3 days is that my skin looked brighter and clearer already, and that I felt lighter and clearer inside and out.

So let’s get down to the details.

The Food and Shakes:

Each day, you got to drink high protein shakes, fruits, vegetables, healthy fats and tea. You also had to strive to drink at least half your body weight in water. Trust me, I think that was the hardest part for me. With all the shakes and water and tea, I felt like I was constantly drinking something!

My breakfasts were always my chocolate Shakeology shakes and some form of fruit, including bananas, apples and mixed fruit.

My lunch and dinners were some form of vegetables with healthy fat, like this coconut steamed vegetables pictured, or steamed asparagus with olive oil.

I have to say, though, the Fiber Sweeps were tough to eat. The flavor was yummy and citrus-y, but I had to chug it as fast as I could, and I never looked forward to it.

The Vanilla shakes were also a little bland and tasted so-so, but once I dressed it up with some cinnamon and vanilla extract, blended with ice and water, I found it tasted much better and made a good dessert to my dinner!

I think I would have liked it more if the Vanilla shakes were more like my chocolate Shakeology drinks, because I would have have no problem drinking them then.

Then again, I’m not much of a shake or smoothie person to begin with, so that could be part of it… drinking 3 shakes a day, plus a fiber sweep… that was tough for me. But I would do it again in heart beat.



I used this pink Nike water bottle to record all my water. I don’t have a picture of it, but I put 3 rubber bands on it all the way on the bottom. Each time I went to refill it, I would move one rubber band up towards the top. This way, I could count how many water bottles I’ve drank throughout the day. My water bottle is 20 oz., so I would end up drinking about 60-80 oz. a day, depending on whether I filled it 3 or 4 times that day.

The water is really key to this being easy to do. If you drink the recommended amount of water, you shouldn’t feel hungry at all. With everything you’re allowed to eat, plus nearly 60-80 oz. of water, I never felt like I was so hungry that I’d eat my own arm at any point. I was comfortable, never too full or bloated, but never hungry. It was a nice change, actually.

This image really summed up how I felt while going through this process. I was done having zero willpower whenever I saw food around me. I had gotten to the point where I would eat cookies, cakes, Italian pastries, ice cream… whatever dessert was put in front of me, I would’t care what my goal was anymore, I lost all willpower. Same with foods like pizza, Chinese food, bagels, pasta, etc. I forgot all rules of portion control when it came to foods I found mouthwatering and irresistible. And I didn’t realize it at the time, but I was letting food control me and walk all over me. I was not in control of what I was putting in my body. When I was finally determined to do this refresh 100% without cheating even a little bit, I found that it wasn’t so hard to say no. It wasn’t that hard to stick to the portions I was meant to be eating. I wasn’t so hard to just eat clean foods, and vegetables steamed and lightly coated in coconut oil were heavenly.
